POPE FRANCIS' FIVE FINGER PRAYER
"Prayer Unites Us."
Pope Francis
Pope Francis
Pope Francis' Five Finger Prayer is a simple way to pray using the fingers on your hand to focus on the needs of others.

1. Thumb: Family and Friends
Your thumb is the finger that is closest to you. Start by praying for those closest to you: your parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and closest friends.
2. Pointer Finger: Teachers
The finger next to your thumb is your pointer finger. Pray for the people who point you in the right direction: teachers, coaches, catechists, tutors, priests, and anyone else who teaches you.
3. Tallest Finger: Leaders
The third finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the leaders of our country, our world, and our Church: the Pope, our President, leaders in business and industry, administrators, and all people who shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.
4. Ring Finger: Sick and Poor
Our ring finger is our weakest finger. We can't move it without the help of our other fingers. It reminds us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble, or in pain: the sick and the poor. They need prayers day and night. We can't pray too much for them.
5. Pinky Finger: You
For the smallest finger of all, pray for yourself. Jesus taught us to be humble so we pray for ourselves last with our smallest finger. Place your greatest needs before God in prayer.
